The Darkest Hour is a 2011 Russian-American science fiction thriller film directed by Chris Gorak and produced by Timur Bekmambetov. The American-based production depicts an alien invasion and stars Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella, Olivia Thirlby, Joel Kinnaman and Rachael Taylor as a group of people caught in the invasion. The film was released on December 25, 2011 in the United States.
The Darkest Hour 2011 <Storyline>:
The American software designers Sean and Ben travel to Moscow to sell their software to investors. However, their Swedish partner Skyler pulls a fast one on Sean and Ben, and they are out of the business. They go to a nightclub, where they meet American Natalie and Australian Anne and they flirt with the girls and see Skyler in the club. Out of the blue, the population is surprised by lights, which they mistake for natural phenomena. But soon, they learn that the lights are aliens invading Earth and using power supply to annihilate mankind. Sean, Ben, Natalie, Anne and Skyler hide in the kitchen and when they leave the place, they seek out survivors on the street. Are they the last people on Earth?

Ben and Sean, two young American men, travel to Moscow to sell their social networking/party locating software. As they approach Moscow via plane, the plane short circuits for a minute due to an electrical storm but regains power. In Moscow, they find their Swedish business partner, Skyler, who has betrayed them and already made a deal with the Russians, using a knockoff version of the application. They then go to a local nightclub and meet Natalie, an attractive American woman, and her Australian friend Anne. w.

The Darkest Hour was released on December 25, 2011 in the US in 2D, 3D and RealD 3D. The DVD release date was April 10, 2012 by Summit Entertainment. It was released January 13 in the UK with the DVD release on May 21.
